Compassion

 Compassion

To be able to put oneself in another's position, to be able to see and to feel as another person does, this is the rare gift of an earnest spiritual seeker.  ~ Amma Mata Amritanandamayi, Indian Spiritual leader
The angel Compassion softens your heart with tears of understanding.  This angel brings you a tender, pure love that melts the most hardened heart and transforms pain into love.

Was your heart broken by a loss in your life?  Heartbreak can send you in two directions.  One is to close down in anger or fear and become hard-hearted or numb.  The other is to tolerate the intolerable feelings of pain by focusing on the love that is at the core of the pain.  This is a pain that comes from love.  You wouldn't feel the pain if you hadn't loved.  Pain like this can help to open your heart so you can experience greater love.  When someone dies, for example, the family often comes together in love, allowing old wounds to wash away in the tears of the loss.

Actions to take:
  • Listen ~ be open to feeling what the other person feels
  • Read about Amma Mata Martianandamayi in the book Women of Power and Grace
  • Write in a journal about what has happened to you, how you may be preventing yourself from loving others, and even yourself.  Allow yourself to cry as you write.
  • Gather tissues and pillows and music that will allow you to feel comforted.  Allow your heart to melt with love.
  • Share compassion with others who are suffering loss.
